Chuncho cocoa, an ancestral variety from Peru
Behind our Amazonas and Solo Cacao chocolates lies the same bean: Chuncho, a native Peruvian variety preserved for generations.

A rare native variety
Chuncho is an ancestral and very rare variety of cocoa bean. Selected for generations by indigenous peoples, it stands out for its taste and aroma. Recent studies highlight its exceptional genetic richness.
We see chocolate as a living material, inseparable from its origin, from the people who grow it and from the lands where it is born. Chuncho is the best example: it grows in two very different terroirs, and each gives it its own expression.
Vraem, between forest and mountains
East of the Andes, the Vraem region is one of the terroirs richest in biodiversity. Chuncho cocoa has been grown there for centuries, notably by indigenous peoples such as the Ashaninka community, who have preserved this variety for its finesse and complexity.
In remote areas, local communities grow cocoa in agroforestry systems woven into the forest, respecting natural balances. This cocoa stands out for a rich aromatic palette, both subtle and expressive.
Cusco and the Sacred Valley of the Incas
In the heart of the Andes, the Cusco region offers a unique terroir. In the Urubamba valley, known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Chuncho develops a particularly refined expression.
Grown in hard-to-reach areas, it benefits from rare natural conditions that combine altitude, climate and fertile soils. This cocoa reveals great finesse, with low bitterness, a delicate acidity and great aromatic complexity.
Amazonas and Solo Cacao, two expressions
Our Amazonas chocolate comes from Vraem. It is mild and very fruity, with low bitterness and acidity, and notes of citrus, raisin and hazelnut. It comes as milk (50%) and dark (70, 75, 85 and 100%).
Solo Cacao comes from Cusco, from a single plantation of old cocoa trees. It rests on a simple principle: add nothing. Made without added cocoa butter, it is intense and smooth, fruity and floral, with low bitterness despite a high cocoa content (80, 90 and 100%).
Both appear, alongside Cacao Blanco from Piura, in the Terra box of sixteen single-origin mini bars.
